On maps, Antarctica and other distant lands always appear “blank”, but just like them this small south-western area of Piedmont is not blank at all. Here, four Italian provinces meet: Alessandria in Piedmont, Genoa in Liguria, Pavia in Lombardy and Piacenza in Emilia Romagna. 

In Piedmont, North of the Alps we can see Asti, Alba, Cuneo, Turin – all valleys of Monte Rosa. Close to our beloved Montemarzino, Tortona, with just over 30'000 inhabitants, is the nearest location that can be considered a "city". Here both the train station and the highway lead directly toward the Mediterrenean.
